사랑니에 대해 알아보기
사랑니는 19세에서 21세쯤에 가장 나중에 형성되는 제3대구치로 대부분의 경우 똑바로 나지 않고 잇몸에 염증을 일으키거나
주변 치아에 영향을 주게 되기 때문에 조기에 발치를 하는 것이 좋습니다.
사랑니는 상악·하악 좌우로 하나씩 최대 4개까지 나오게 되며, 사랑니가 전부 다 나오는 경우도 있지만 하나도 나지 않는 경우도 있습니다.

Are there Wisdom Teeth that do not need to be extracted?
As a general principle, this clinic recommends extraction. This is because Wisdom Teeth are difficult to clean properly and are likely to affect the adjacent teeth.
When is the best time to have them extracted?
We first assess the condition and root orientation through an examination, then determine the appropriate timing.
Can impacted Wisdom Teeth also be extracted here?
We also treat impacted Wisdom Teeth covered by the gum. We assess the extent of coverage and the location of the nerve before proceeding.
Is a CT scan always necessary?
We begin with a panoramic X-ray. A CT scan is used when the Wisdom Tooth may be close to a nerve, such as with lower jaw Wisdom Teeth.
Can all four be extracted at once?
It depends on the position and condition of each tooth. We will advise you on how many to extract at a time after the examination.
How much swelling should I expect after extraction?
Swelling and pain will subside over the course of a few days. Please contact us if they worsen after three days.
Is it covered by health insurance?
Wisdom Tooth extraction is covered under the National Health Insurance.
When are the sutures removed?
If the gum has been sutured, the stitches will be removed once the site has healed. We will let you know when to come back for your next visit at the time of extraction.
Does the director perform the extraction personally?
Dr. Son Young-woo, the head director, provides all treatments personally. Each patient is seen in a private room, and no procedures are delegated to other staff.
Can I smoke after the extraction?
Sucking motions can dislodge the blood clot and interfere with the healing process. Please avoid smoking especially on the day of extraction.
Why should I avoid hot food after the extraction?
Hot food can also dislodge the blood clot. Since healing can only begin once the bleeding has stopped, the day of extraction is the most critical period.
Can I have my Wisdom Tooth extracted while taking medication?
If you are taking any medications or have an existing medical condition, we will adjust the timing and method accordingly. Please let us know in advance when making your appointment.
I was told my Wisdom Tooth has caused decay in the molar in front of it — can both be treated at the same time?
A Wisdom Tooth that lies at an angle can sometimes cause cavities to develop between it and the adjacent molar. After assessment, we will advise you on the appropriate order of extraction and cavity treatment.
If it is swollen and painful, can it be extracted the same day?
We need to assess the condition and root direction first, so we will advise you after an examination. All appointments are by reservation only, so please contact us by phone at 02-558-2829 beforehand.
There is an odor coming from the extraction site — is that normal?
Please do not leave it and contact us. If there is a problem with the healing process, treatment may be necessary.
